A Republic, if you can keep it!
“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”
Good question.
Who did this? Repubclic was founded by a group of classical liberals in 2010, on the eve of what we think is a tidal shift in American political sentiment in favor of personal liberty, smaller government, and less regulation.
What is Repubclic? It's a gathering place, a water cooler, a watering hole. It's a village, and you're the children--no, wait, that isn't right. Repubclic is just a place where the grassroots can cobble together its own front page, every day.
So, what does one do here? Sign up for an account, post the latest news along with your short commentary, and then click on Stories Coming Up and vote on what's most important, what's funniest, what's best. Simple. Fun.
Repubclic works by promoting stories that get enough votes to Top News status, which means readers see them right on the home page. On the Stories Coming Up page, by contrast, you'll see a live feed of freshly posted stories, regardless of how many votes they've got. Once a story has enough votes it becomes Top News. If a story never gains enough votes, it drops off the face of the earth.
So it's like a market? Why, yes!
